Hello Donald,
I was very happy to stumble on your blog/web site. I am with a company, Emcien, that offers advanced analytics for SAP/VC.
Companies are looking for this to improve their product offering.
Our Chief Scientist is the keynote speaker at the CWG conference at Marco Island. Will you be attending the conference?
I look forward to hearing from you.

Hi Donald,

In CU50 what are you seeing? Do you see the component determined or are you seeing the 200 class name.

For all other components are these being passed to the production order ok.

Basically trying to determine if it is the Class 200 that has the problem or whether it is a problem with any component.

Thanks

Phil

Hello, thank you for your examples. I tryied all day to use classe Items in BOMS (I made the class 200, the characteristic, I assigned 4 materials to the class and characteristic, but:

The simulate transaction cu50 ask me for the profile configuration & when I release the sale order the order production doesn't populate the derivated materials.

Thank for your answer.
bye!

Hi,

Dont fully understand the question, but basically you set up the variant table to contain the quantities. On my current project we have a wide variety of materials and tables and updates. We try to use characteristics in tables that hold a "core" value. Then we use this in formulas in the procedure that sets the BOM quantity. For example if the floor area of a house is 200m2 then we can use this to determine the m3 of concrete using a formula in the procedure.

Hi Prad,

You can use Variant Tables for Pricing also to combine your combinations.

Here is the basic logic of the procedure that reads the table.
Table SPEED_CAPACITY
(SPEED = SPEED,
CAPACITY = CAPACITY,
XX_PRICE_TABLE = $SELF.XX_PRICE).

Your Characteristics for the Price require 2. Single Value for the table and Multivalue for the pricing key.

Is a good method for combining combinations.

Hi All,

I'm trying to get the value of a material by the combination of characteristics not by individual characteristics value. my material is having 5 characteristics and each char. will have 5 values. For ex char1. speed = 100,200,300,400,500 char2, capacity = 500, 600, 700, 800, 900. My material pricing should not based on the individual char values price. it must be the combination of char value

If speed 100 & capacity 500 then price is 1000
If speed 100 & capacity 600 then price is 1200
If speed 200 & capacity 500 then price is 1100

I Configured a VC which is working on Char value price basis. I need to get combination price. Can anyone help me for the solution.
Thanks in Advance.

This is an excellent demo. But can you please add a similar demo, to change the BoM quantity of several materials based on a characteristic selected at the header or root? In this example we are considering only ONE material. But the BoM may contain several materials, and each component's quantity to be fixed is different, which can be maintained in a table
MATNR Characteristic Value Qty
matnr1 chr1 10 ea
matnr2 chr1 7 ea
matnr1 chr2 17 ea
matnr2 chr2 12 ea....etc

Can you please throw some light?
Thanks

Hi,

Although I am not recollecting the exact source but I have a concern of using OD in Class level as it is not supported in IPC. Since most of the companies will tend to go for CRM/portals so IPC compatibility is very important. Let me know if you have any other info regarding this.

Regards,
